Surgical management of nasolachrymal duct obstruction in children

Sir,
The publication on "surgical management of nasolachrymal duct obstruction in children" should be discussed in several aspects. Abdu and Salisu reported "nasolacrimal drainage obstructions (NLDO) was mostly of congenital origin and was characterized by delayed presentation [1]" and concluded "patients have a good outcome with external dacryocystorhinostomy. [1]" First, to conclude that the case is a congenital condition should be more evidenced. In fact, there are many problems that can lead to NLDO including the previous infections. [2] In cases that the conditions are actual congenital, "what the risk factors are" should be assessed and discussed. [3] Focusing on surgical management, there are many techniques. The outcome should be varies depending on the technique and experience of the surgeon. An interesting technique is the new "endoscopic intranasal surgery." [4]
